IPL hair removal Solihull

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, it is often abbreviated to IPL, and it is a treatment cosmetically used for the reduction of hair growth. IPL treatment uses a broad spectrum of light with multiple wavelengths to gradually reduce the growth of face and body hair. With IPL you see a range a light wavelengths used, some of these wavelengths can penetrate deeper in to the skin and remove hair follicles that are located deeper in the skin. As IPL has a wide range of light wavelengths it is also very effective in treating the appearance of the skin.

How does IPL work?

IPL is a non-invasive treatment; it entails an intense pulsed light applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. The wavelengths in the light penetrate at different levels through layers of skin. The light is attracted to the colour of the hair, more specifically the melanin in the hair.  The energy from the light is absorbed by the hair and is converted to heat which gently weakens the hair, this is done in courses where the area is treated an average of six to eight times.

Where can IPL be used?

IPL is a safe and painless treatment that can be applied to any part of the body and is very successful on large areas of unwanted hair including: Face, Side-burns, Top Lip, Chin, Jaw, Neck, Bikini area, Legs, Arms and Underarms, Back and Shoulders.

Who can use IPL?

The IPL technology we use has an integrated cooling system, which allows the skin to be cool and causes less discomfort to the treatment area. The technology produces flashes of light during treatment and therefore is not recommended to those who suffer from epilepsy or those with photo sensitivity or skin sensitivities. Pregnant and breast feeding women are also excluded from treatment, along with those under the age of 18.

We highly recommend all of our clients use sunscreen daily; this is to protect your skin from any sun damage. It is recommended to use sunscreen factor 30 and above.
